How to Assemble Affordable Gifts Your Students Will Actually Love and Enjoy

One of my favorite things to do each year, especially around the holiday, is to treat my students with something they will love and use. I don't love to spend to say I did. I am always looking for something I know will be useful and easy to use, and most of all looking for something that is the most affordable student gift.

I got lucky this year. Target was having an AMAZING Black Friday deal on pop it toys, the latest sensation among all kids. However, they make wonderful sensory tools, learning devices, calming activity pieces, and more. This was a no-brainer. I could not resist purchasing them. As I said, I got lucky. They were marked down to $2, which was well worth it. I also got a wonderful deal on the Ink Joy gel pens box set.

Follow along as I walk you through the quick and easy way I assembled these gifts and presented them on the last day of school.

Gather Your Materials

This list is short and sweet:

  1. Pop it (still in the box)
  2. Single Ink Joy gel pen
  3. Any ribbon of your choosing
  4. Glue dots
  5. Scissors
  6. Gift Tags (see free download below)

Time to Assemble

First, I started by adding two glue dots to two separate spots on the pop it box: one to attach the gift tag and the second to attach the pen. Then, I took a ribbon and laid it under the backside of the box. I tied the ribbon in a knot across the top and used the scissors to curl the ends. That's it! Easy as pie.

What's Next?

This was it . . . It took me roughly 25 minutes to piece together all 24 gifts (a little more than 1 minute per gift). I laid them on the table in the classroom the morning of our holiday breakfast and gathering. My students were thrilled to get these pop it toys AND colored pens. This might be a repeat for next year.
