Distance Learning Made Exciting With Amazing Teachers!

So here's the monthly post where I would normally update you on something coming up for April this spring, but little did we know that teaching ‘in' the classroom wouldn't be a thing when Spring began. At this point in time, most all of us are sitting at home, closed indoors. We have a new normal to adjust to and I'm here to help ease some of those fears – with several links from some amazing educators included!!

In my school district we have been given a green light to do as we want with teaching, currently. This means we can be as hands off as possible or super go-getters. I think y'all know I'm the latter, and I'll give you a glimpse into what my weeks are currently scheduled to look like:

All About Organization

I'm all about being organized and I envisioned what a typical week would look like and went from there. I started by uploading my digital Science lessons into Google Slides and prepping them with videos and movable pieces, much like if I were to teach it in the classroom. Additionally, I took my Social Studies lessons and turned them into interactive notes. I just simply typed them up and left spaces where students would need to type notes. Additionally, I turned all maps and graphics into PDFs and uploaded them into a Google Drive.

My students use Google Classroom and it was easy for me to assign all lessons to them there. The same for uploading all of the documents into Google Drive. One specific place for everything in one program.

Additionally, I created an agenda for the students that I emailed to all parents and uploaded in Google Classroom, just in case students needed some sort of self-pacing guide. There are other goodies included in there, too (not just oodles of packets)!

  1. Google classroom is the best way to organize! I learned a trick where you can but emoji/stickers next to assignments to help visually organize subjects and it has been a life saver! I also put a red circle next to things we have completed!
