One of my favorite skills to teach and enhance during the school year is parts of speech. From an early elementary start, many students understand nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Although we must continue to polish each and even more, we add more words to each student’s vocabulary.
Back to School Silly Stories
It is that time of year when we think of ‘returning’ to school—well, not thinking but knowing. It’s inevitable, really. So, with that in mind, I love to have the first week of school activities ready to go where students can enjoy showing what they know while also demonstrating understanding. The Silly Stories offer just that. Funny, themed stories written with blank lines sprinkled throughout where students can write different words based on the suggested part of speech.
Students can demonstrate understanding of nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs, specific verbs ending in a particular way, proper nouns, and more! The best part, students can quickly fill in the blanks (either guided or independently) and then go back to read their story . . . ending in plenty of belly laughs. Learning really should be fun!
A Silly Story Collection
This Back-to-School Silly Story set is one of ten in a themed growing bundle that will reach a total of twelve. Each themed set comes with twelve story templates included. In addition, every set comes in a printable, digital, and fillable format.
Teachers and students can share laughs while also learning.
