ARE YOU READY?
If you are one of those teachers that is 110% pumped about returning to school because you live and breath your job then I give you mad props!
If you are on the opposite end of the spectrum and really enjoy the big S word (SUMMER) and you cannot stand the thought of it ending, I give you made props, too!
Whichever teacher you are, one thing is certain. We all have to return and we must be prepared!
In the past, I have been lucky enough to work at a school where the custodian was generous and would let me come in whenever I wanted throughout the summer, which meant two things:
1. Free reign in the building without distraction.
2. Free reign of the COPY MACHINE and LAMINATOR!
I super appreciated this and showed our custodian how thankful I was by buying him lunch and reminding him throughout the year how important he is to our building! If you can develop a strong and kind relationship with your custodian, AND secretary, I highly encourage that.
After gaining access to my classroom, I begin to set my furniture up the way I like and sketch out my design(s) of placement, as well as make notes about the things I need to do and prep for the first day.
Then, I double check my curriculum and make copies of the necessary papers needed. This could include a Back to School flyer about me, as well as any additional information that the student (and parents) need to be successful for the school year.
Lastly, I take a look at my checklist and make sure I am checking it twice!! Click here to get your own copy of the checklist!

I'm not sure what I would do if I had free reign with the laminator!! Haha!! Happy Back to School!
Building connections with custodians, the office ladies, ANY support staff is sooo important!! Hope your year is off to a great start, my friend!
